DIAMOND JUBILEE IN COUNTRYSIDE Kingswood

There were many celebrations on England's streets. Every city, every village had its own street party or parade to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Queen's Elisabeth II reign.

We are in Kingswood, a charming little village south of London. The main village street, which was closed for traffic, filled with many local residents of all ages. Dressed for the occasion they merrily chatted with their neigbours and joined in the common spirit of jubiliation, to celebrate this important day.
All because of the Diamond Jubilee!

My School's director participated in the festival and took some photos to show our students how English people celebrate this special day. 





Everything started with a small parade. Look at the local musicians, aren't they great?

As you see - there was no problem to get something to eat or drink.









At the picture on the left you can see KADDS (Kingswood Amateur Dance and Drama Society). They were singing funny songs from the most famous musicals and at the end they sang 'God save the Queen'.

 Small stalls with food, clothes, cup cakes (home baked cakes) or British gadgets, people sitting at tables set up in the Waterside Lane and chatting - all because of the Diamod Jubilee!

 Inhabitants baked some really impressive cakes with British accents on them. They organised a competition for the most beautiful gateau  - look which cake won the first and second prize!

 Most of the people were all dressed up in Union Jack! (that is British flag) ;) Well, maybe not exactly in the flag but in clothes that looked just like it. For example, this little baby's hat and shoes :)

The Diamond Jubilee in Kingswood was quite an event.
Nothing is better than seeing happy faces all around you - wouldn't you enjoy it? :)

Od 2 do 5 czerwca Anglicy świętowali 60 rocznicę panowania Jej Królewskiej Mości królowej Elżbiety II. Parady, pikniki, koncerty trwały przez całe 4 dni - nie było chwili na pracę - wszyscy się bawili. Chorągiewki, czapki, kapelusze, płaszcze, ciasteczka, torty - wszystkie były w brytyjskiej fladze. W niedziele Tamizą przepłynęło około 1000 łodzi, tworząc wodny orszak rodziny królewskiej.  
W tych uroczystościach brał udział nasz wysłannik, który na bieżąco relacjonował nam wydarzenia z Londynu i okolic! Przysłał nam ogromną ilość zdjęć, z których wybraliśmy dla Was dosłownie kilka :)

W ogrodach Buckingham Palace miał miejsce ogromny piknik dla 12 tysięcy szczęśliwców, którzy wygrali w losowaniu zaproszeń na loterii. Na placu przed pałacem zaś odbywały się koncerty największych gwiazd rocka - oto krótka relacja BBC z tego, jak ta impreza wyglądała: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18326333

Naszemu fotoreporterowi, niestety, nie poszczęściło się w losowaniu, ale udało mu się obejść St. James's Park i dotrzeć na The Mall, gdzie zgromadził się już tłum ludzi. Koncerty można było oglądać na ogromnych telebimach, stojąc wśród rozentuzjazmowanych ludzi machających brytyjskimi chorągiewkami, wiwatujących na cześć królowej, wspaniale bawiących się w swoim towarzystwie. Po pierwszej części koncertu nasz wysłannik poszedł zobaczyć, co też dzieje się w Hyde Parku. Tam panowała prawdziwie wspaniała atmosfera! Angielski tłum był roztańczony i rozśpiewany, a dzięki mniejszemu zagęszczeniu drzew można było obserwować muzyczne wydarzenia na 6 wielkich ekranach na raz. Na scenie grały takie sławy jak Elton John, Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Madness, Robie Williams i inni. W nocy zaś na niebie królowały fajerwerki... Musiało być pięknie - zresztą spójrzcie sami!
